What Guests Think

This is what our guests think about Salthouse:

  • We've a had a fun, relaxing and busy week. Of Holkham, Salthouse, Sheringham, Weybourne and West Runton we thought the last was the best beach for little ones (and the closest) although Holkham is great for bike riding/walking through the woodland path to the left, before you reach the beach. The Victoria is a must for lunch! The King's Head in Letheringsett is brilliant for pizza and fantastic castle and swings.  Top tip if you have kids is Bewilderwood, near Wroxham. A-maze-ing! Our 3 year old cried his eyes out when we left it was so good.  Great cottage and lovely hosts. We'd love to come back! xxx

  • We have had an absolutely wonderful time staying here at this beautiful cottage in these beautiful surroundings. Caitlin and William loved crab hunting at West Runton, the beach at Cromer, fab coffee shop at the Rocket Cafe at Cromer. Yummy bacon sandwiches at the Funky Mackerel in Sheringham and being out in the open countryside. It was always lovely to see them playing with Tom and Libby (your gorgeous children!) first thing - enjoying a taste of the idyllic family life that you clearly have here. We go back to London in love with the area and are already planning our return visit next year.
Thank you for an affordable and well equipped break.

  • What a wonderful place. The cottage is just gorgeous and so well equipped - you have thought of everything. We loved Holt and the beach at West Runton. Archie built his first sandcastle and Phoebe loved splashing in the the sea. We had a beautiful meal at The King's Head too. Thank you so much.

  • Perfect! Like staying with friends, but more private! We loved the beach at Sea Palling, Bewilderwood and Binam Priory! And ice creams at Cromer!!!  All in such easy reach. We hope we can come again with friends when the second stable is ready.  Thank you Cate and Fergus for making us feel at home.

  • Found the accommodation very comfortable and the welcome extremely warm, especially after a long drive. The surrounding area is good for walks with toddlers and we loved the little garden outside and the toys. Sheringham Railway was enjoyed by all as was the seaside at Cromer. The King's Head at Cromer (near the long stay car park) particularly welcoming to families with small children as was the King's Head beyond Holt in Letheringsett, which also has a gorgeous menu. Would love to return - Thank you.

  • This was Elsie's first holiday and we can't imagine how it could have been any better! The cottage is cosy and so well equipped. We have enjoyed staying so much. It's been such a joy to wake up to the birds singing every morning.  We've enjoyed trips to Holt, Sheringham and Cromer and taking Elsie to the beach for the first time has been wonderful. Elsie can't quite believe how big (and cold!) the sea is! We've never been to this part of the country before but we'll definitely be back...and soon!
PS  The Funky Mackerel Cafe in Sheringham is fab!

  • What an absolutely lovely little place - we've had a great time, both enjoying the cottage and exploring the area. We went to The Crown at Wells-next-the-Sea which has good food and to the Rocket Cafe in Cromer which has a fantastic vista.  Had a great walk down to the beach at Wells-Next-the-Sea. We hope to return in the summer months. We envy everyone who gets to stay here!

  • Thank you for a lovely break in your gorgeous cottage. Lots of interiors ideas I have already decided to copy when we get home!  Everything was so well provided for that I wished I hadn't packed so much!  We have also decided to buy a new pram/buggie on the back of using yours! What I loved was that you were there when we needed you but other than that it felt totally private! The rain poured and poured until Thursday so we did less than we had hoped. We loved The King's Head in Letheringsett - Bea ate her first 'bangers and mash' and we loved Holkham Beach. Much bigger than it looks on the website so a nice surprise for us!

  • Thank you for a lovely New Year break up in Norfolk. The cottage is lovely and so well equipped. Alfie has loved the walks in the fields and we all loved going down to the beach even though it was a bit chilly.  Will look forward to coming back in the nicer warm weather. Good luck for the future of the cottages. PS. Sorry Alfie chased next door's chickens. He must have been feeling very brave, that's what happens when his mum and dad run out of dog food.

  • A beautiful unit and a sweet vacation for us!

  • Have had a brilliant time here at Salthouse. The cottage is perfect and extremely well-equipped especially the toys! Best pub - The King's Head at Letheringsett. Highly recommend for great food for adults and kids alike. Best beach - Holkham though loved Salthouse too. Best memory - Sitting in the late afternoon autumn sunshine beside the lake at Blicking Hall.

  • We have had a wonderful family weekend break here. The cottage is beautiful, so well equipped for children and adults alike. All the toys you have provided have been a massive hit with Samuel (on the subject of toys we strongly recommend a toy shop called Mini Milou in Holt - great toys and v. friendly). Holt itself is a lovely town. We spent a very enjoyable afternoon there (even in the pouring rain!!).  Samuel had great fun on Sheringham beach (even in October he loved digging in the sand there). Thanks for making us so welcome, we look forward to visiting Norfolk again.

  • Everything was completely perfect and wonderful and we were extremely comfortable and it was fantastic to stay somewhere so light and pretty and with a proper fully equipped kitchen. We've all had a heavenly time! The apartment / unit / bijou beach house is beautiful and extremely comfortable and the children adored playing with the toys, swinging on the swing and watching Bod. And Norfolk skies are the best in the world. Looking forward to next time already.

  • Thank you both for a wonderful, restful stay at Salthouse. We've had a lovely 4 days - the cottage is so beautifully furnished, clean and well-specified and we appreciate all of your carefully thought-through little touches. Will has very much enjoyed your bath toys, especially fishing for crabs! And the little cardboard house outside! Never having visited the area before we can especially recommend a go on the Poppy Line steam railway from Sheringham to Holt, building sandcastles on Overstrand beach and coffee and croissant/bacon sandwich at Byfords in Holt. Thanks again and we look forward to our next visit.
